Rolando Aguilar, a.k.a. beeple, is an independent artist and game designer that has worked with companies like Apple, Google, Microsoft and Disney, as well as many independent games including “Spaceteam” and “Pictureka!” He’s also the creator of some truly breathtaking artwork.

Tin Man Games’ Art Director Katie Williams recently interviewed him for their blog, and I was both impressed with beeple’s insight into his creative process, and how much I could relate to it. Here are a few things we can all learn from how he approaches his art:

Beeple is experimental: While beeple’s art may look simple at first glance, behind each piece there were many failed attempts before he got to the finished product you see today. Most of them he even kept around to remind himself of what not to do in the future! If you’re ever feeling stuck or uninspired in your work, remember that your best ideas will come from experimenting with new things every now and then.

Rolando Aguilar aka Beeple is a talented artist who specializes in digital art. His work has been featured all over the web including Behance, Booooooom! and many more. He has been an active member of the digital art community for years sharing his work and knowledge with others.

In this interview, artist and designer Rolando Aguilar shares his unique perspective on creation and experimentation in the process of making art.

Rolando Aguilar is an artist and designer based in San Francisco. He is known for his colorful geometric paintings, prints and sculptures that he creates using code. Aguilar’s work rests in a genre-defying space between painting, illustration, sculpture and design.

The artist Rolando Aguilar is an interesting one to talk to because he’s always trying to learn new things. He’s always experimenting, whether it be in color, or different mediums, or in how he does his work. And the end result is always a very stylized piece of art that stands out for its uniqueness. But what about the process? What about the decisions that led him to where he is today?

What kind of person becomes an artist? How does one go from being a gamer to making art? How much of the process is experimentation and how much comes from just sitting down and doing it? And what do you do when you realize something isn’t working out as well as you had hoped?

Aguilar has answers to all these questions, and more.

Rolando Aguilar is an experimental artist from Mexico. His style of art is very unique and uses a lot of different software such as Cinema 4D, Maya, Zbrush, and more. He is able to use these programs to create something all his own. In this interview he explains how he creates his art and also provides some great insight on the process he goes through to create his pieces.

Towards the end of the interview Aguilar talks about how he experiments with many different styles in order to find what works best for him. He says “I change my style often because I want to get better at it and not just do what I already know how to do.” This makes him come off as someone who is always learning and trying new things which is refreshing to see from someone in the same field as you.

This interview also provides some insight into Aguilar’s life outside of art. He talks about how he has lived in both Europe and Mexico City which have greatly influenced his work. He also talks about how he likes experimenting with different mediums such as photography, video, painting, etc…

Overall I found this interview very interesting and it helped me learn more about the process Aguilar goes through when creating one of his pieces.”

While Aguilar has been making art for a number of years, “The Farting Dog” is his first foray into interactive artwork. The piece is a work in progress. As more people download the software and create their own “Farting Dog” experiences, Aguilar will continue to expand the piece.

“My goal with this piece is to make it possible for anyone to make a 3-D animation,” he said. “There are tools that allow you to do really interesting things with art.”

But creating art isn’t about the tools, he said. It’s about experimentation and finding what works for you.

“I’m not a trained animator,” he said. “When I was learning 3-D animation, I was very much interested in the tools and technologies. I had all these grandiose ideas about what the piece should be, but it didn’t work out that way.”

Aguilar said that he uses many different types of technology in his work, including Flash, Maya and Python. He said that one of his most important skills is knowing when it’s time to learn something new or move on from an older method of doing things.

“I had been working on this piece for so long and I was stuck,”

Most people are not going to be successful as artists, but that doesn’t mean they can’t make good art. If you look at the world of contemporary art and its economics, there’s an extraordinarily high failure rate. People just don’t realize how competitive it is.

Artists are like entrepreneurs in that they have to be ahead of their time. They have to know what will catch on before other people do; they have to imagine the future and then work backward to create something that will resonate with others. It’s incredibly hard work, and if you’re not willing to put in the effort, you’re probably not going to get anywhere.
