Hi, I’m Ellen, the creative mind behind Painting a Small Apartment. I’m an artist living in New York City, and this is my little corner of the web.

I love art and design and I’m always looking for ways to bring these two things together! My apartment is small, but not so small that I can’t make it fun and functional. On this blog you’ll see how I repurposed items that would otherwise have been thrown away. This process not only saves space and money, it also allows me to express myself creatively.

When it comes to painting a small apartment, there are several things you should keep in mind. First, make sure that your apartment is in fact small. If you purchase paint and are then told by someone else that your apartment isn’t that small, you will be very upset. You will also be upset if the paint does not cover all of the wall or if it does not look as pretty as on the box.

TIP: Before painting, make sure to measure the living space carefully so that you know exactly how much paint to buy.

If you have followed these steps, you are ready to begin painting. The first step is to tape off your door and windows (if they aren’t already painted). This prevents you from getting paint on them. Then wear old clothing and make sure all of your furniture is moved out of the room. Put plastic over any carpeting and cover any furniture with heavy drop cloths.

Next, pre-paint any doors or cabinets that will be visible when the paint dries using a brush or roller. Apply two coats of this color to ensure that it covers completely.

Lastly, apply paint to the walls using a roller and large paint brush. Work from top to bottom and from one side of the wall to another

The great thing about painting an apartment is the freedom to do whatever you want. And when you are looking to paint a small apartment, that freedom can be even more liberating. A smaller space means less planning, less time and fewer supplies.

A small apartment provides an opportunity to get creative with your art and can be done in just a few days or a week.

I began this project with my boyfriend. We had been looking for a new place and found exactly what we wanted: well-priced, clean, close to work, on the subway line and perfect for entertaining. The only problem was that it was tiny.

We didn’t want to spend a lot of money on renovations because we have so many other expenses right now (moving, new baby and wedding) so painting was the best solution we could find.

The plan was to paint the walls with flat paint while adding interest with texture in other areas. We used some ideas we found online but mostly did it our own way.

Hi. My name is Julie and I am currently living in a studio apartment. It’s not the biggest place in the world, but it’s not so small that I can’t be comfortable, either. It does have its challenges, though.

One of my biggest challenges is finding ways to make my apartment look bigger than it is. Everything in my place has to serve two purposes. The first purpose is obviously to fulfill some function: a table needs to function as a place to eat or work on; a chair needs to be used as an actual chair! But everything also needs to look good doing it!

My project today is painting the inside of my cabinets white. I’ve had this idea in my head for a while now and I’m finally diving in with both feet! I’ll be sure to write about how this project goes and will share pictures with you when it is all done!

Hi! I’m Emily, a 23-year-old designer and blogger. My website is called A Small Apartment because that’s what it is: a studio apartment in the heart of Austin, TX. I’ve been blogging about my design choices and experiences ever since I moved in two years ago.

I am a single mother of two girls, who are my life. Their father lives in another state, and I joined an online dating site. I was excited because I had not been on a date in years. When I met this man, who is at least 15 years older than me, I was surprised when he told me that he had three kids from his previous marriage. He also told me that he had a big house, and that his ex-wife and kids lived there with him.

I had no idea what to do. On the one hand, he was really nice, and I loved the way he treated me. He was attentive to my needs and made sure that I was comfortable at all times. On the other hand, those were his kids! How could I just let myself be the new woman in their family when they already had one?

The look on my face must have said it all because we ended up talking about it for almost an hour. He explained to me how much he loved his kids but hated his ex-wife, and how she wanted to take advantage of him by not allowing him to see his kids as often as he wanted. He told me how she had never taken care of them properly and that she always used them as
