Bring them to The Scrap Jar to donate. They’ll sort and sell them.
Preparing for the Scrap Jar
To prepare for the Scrap Jar, you’ll want to gather the necessary supplies and materials. Here are some items to consider collecting:
Metal cans and containers
Glass bottles and jars
Cardboard and paper products
Plastic containers and bottles
Fabric scraps and textiles
Electronics and batteries
Other recyclable materials
You can find these items in your home, garage, or local community. Get creative and think about what you can reuse or repurpose.
Remove lids, labels, and caps from containers
Clean and rinse materials to remove dirt and debris
Sort materials into categories (e.g. metal, glass, cardboard)
Remove any hazardous materials (e.g. batteries, electronics with wires)
Shred or tear paper products into smaller pieces
Donating to the Scrap Jar
The Scrap Jar team will take care of pre-sorting and processing your donations. However, you can help make the process easier by:
Using the donation station at the shop
Bringing rolling carts to help transport materials
Labeling materials with their contents and any relevant information
Providing clear instructions on how to use the materials
Getting Involved
The Scrap Jar is a community-driven initiative, and there are many ways to get involved.
