This material is made from recycled water bottles and is 100% environmentally friendly. It has all the durability of conventional vinyl but is manufactured using less energy and fewer natural resources. It is also about half the weight of standard vinyl, making it easier to handle and hang.

Cartographers usually print the maps on a synthetic paper material, which is then laminated onto a fiberboard substrate. This is not a good option for those people who are looking to go green. There are many alternatives to traditional printing processes that are better for our environment.

The process we use to create these eco-friendly maps is known as Dye Sublimation which transfers images onto polyester fabric or paper with the use of heat and pressure. In order to produce these maps we use the most advanced machines, allowing us to have an incredible detail and vivid colors on our prints. Our vinyl maps are made from recycled records, most of them donated by individuals or businesses. Each piece is unique; so no two pieces are exactly alike. We use different methods to create our wall art, but all of them are hand made in the USA. We print on our own custom stock using UV-resistant inks that will last for decades without fading or cracking.

The Process

Our maps begin as LPs donated by individuals or businesses that want to see their old albums repurposed rather than thrown away. Those records are cleaned, then scanned into a computer so we can make sure they’re not warped. Next, we cut out each section of the map at the size requested by the customer, then carefully arrange them on a backing to ensure that when the pieces are sewn together there won’t be any gaps or overlap that could show through
