The Study of Studio Art: I want to tell the story of how I reached my goals in my art classes and how I plan on becoming successful.
I have an interest in drawing as a field of study ever since 7th grade when I began to discover what it was that I wanted to do with my life. When I first started drawing, I had no idea where this curiosity would lead me. But as time went on, my passion for the subject grew, and soon it became one of the most important things in my life.
I am writing this essay in order to explain how and why I chose the path that led me to go into studio art. During the beginning of 6th grade, I did not know what career path I wanted to take in life. So, during that year, I decided to take a variety of different classes so that I could experience many different careers and what they were all about. My first class was computer programming because I thought it would be interesting to learn more about coding and such. With this class came a sketch book for me to fill up with drawings so that we could understand the fundamentals of computer science by using the visual aspect of language. The study of art is to learn how to find inspiration and have a great understanding of the different media’s properties. One must be able to know how to observe one’s surroundings and create what they see. The first thing that I learned was that you must play an instrument, there are no exceptions. You must play music for fifteen minutes every day in order for you to get better at music and learn about each instrument’s unique sound. The other thing I learned was that you must draw every day, but not just any drawing or draft. You must choose a single thing and make a series of drawings or drafts of the same object, like the human face, the human body, or an animal. By doing this it will help you become better at perspective because you will be drawing things from different angles so it will be easier for you when it comes to drawing objects that are three dimensional because of your practice.
The last thing that I have learned is that you must photograph every day because through photography you will understand what light does to your subject. Also by taking photographs it forces you to look around your environment and search for things that would make a great picture instead of walking into a room without looking around; then when the time comes to take a picture the photographer can’t
In the past I have taken art classes and they usually just cause me to become frustrated, but this time I was determined to succeed. This year I took a 3-D class, an advanced 2-D class, and a basic drawing class.
Towards the end of the first semester, my teacher for the 3-D class asked if anyone wanted to work on a project that involved creating a small sculpture out of clay for her to display in her office. I jumped at the chance because it meant that I would get extra credit for doing something creative and fun. The project was also individualized so I could focus more on my strengths than my weaknesses. It was very rewarding and taught me how to be confident in myself as an artist.
Once that project was completed, we had a critique where all of our sculptures were displayed in front of our classmates and teachers. We each got notes from both our teachers and classmates about what they liked or didn’t like about our sculptures. It was interesting to see how different people interpreted the same piece of work differently based on their own experiences and opinions. It also taught me how to take criticism without taking it too personally because everyone has different tastes in art and they may not always understand what your intentions were when you made a
I want the audience to understand that the choice of study can be a very important decision in life. I want them to think about what they are studying and how it will affect their future.
I spent most of my school days reading and writing. Throughout my life, I have always loved to read; whether it was a book, a magazine, or the newspaper. I wanted to become a journalist in high school, but I didn’t get the chance. In seventh grade, I joined the yearbook staff. I got my first photography job in eighth grade as an assistant to our yearbook photographer. I also had a job that same year with the local weekly newspaper.
Towards the end of my high school career, I discovered that I loved reading art criticism books and decided that I wanted to be an art critic when I grew up. However, during my senior year at high school, one of my friends talked me into taking an art class with her. It ended up being one of the best decisions of my life.
I just thought it was going to be another class that I would have to take for an easy grade. When we went into the class for the first time, we were given three blank pieces of paper and told to make something from them by folding them any way we wished and not using any instruments except our hands and fingers. After looking around in amazement at what everyone else created from these blank pieces of paper, I found myself
When I entered high school, my mom and dad gave me a list of colleges that were close to home. I was to go to one of these colleges and major in art. My mom says, “We want you to be successful in life.” My parents are both college dropouts. My dad didn’t get his GED until he was thirty-four years old, and my mom never went to college at all. All they wanted me to do was what they could not do.
After high school, I went to a small private college called the Art Institute of Dallas. I studied illustration and considered myself a graphic designer. I was great with Photoshop and Illustrator, but I had no idea how real artists made their work or how hard it actually is to make it on your own.
I took an illustration class where I learned basic skills like drawing and perspective. The next year, we started working with pastels and charcoal, which were totally new mediums for me. And then came oil painting with acrylics…I wasn’t even sure what acrylics were!
My first painting class finished up just as the deadline for applying for art scholarships rolled around. After two years at the Art Institute of Dallas, I realized that it wasn’t what I thought it

Art is a very important part of our lives, and it will continue to influence society. It has progressed over time, and continues to do so. However, there are those who are interested in learning the history of art and how it has come to where it is today.
A great deal of art consists of paintings made by many different artists through the years. There are many different types of paintings that exist today, but all serve their own purpose. With the use of these paintings made by some of the masters, we can tell stories about what happened in that time period. Some of these stories are told from an outsiders perspective, meaning we cannot see what was happening at that time. Other works show us exactly what was going on at the time and how others were affected by it.
Some people consider drawing as the most basic form of art because they believe it originates from simple doodling. But when this form of art is taken seriously, one can produce some truly breathtaking pieces such as a portrait or landscape painting. Such paintings give us a glimpse into the lives and feelings of those who lived during that time
