Wire art is unique to make. It’s a beautiful art form that is not well known to the public. This blog will be used to explain what wire art is and why it’s unique. The blog will also have some pictures of wire art photos of my work in progress pictures of completed work and some videos of me making wire art.

The history of wire art is relatively unknown but wire artists have been in existence since the beginning of time. Wire was first discovered by cave men who would twist vines into different shapes and forms. As time progressed man began make jewelry out of gold and silver, this jewelry would include wire twisted into beautiful designs. The Egyptians are well known for their intricate pieces of jewelry that incorporated wires into there designs. More recently wire has been used in architecture to create different shapes and sizes. Now days we use wire as an art medium to create sculptures, jewelry, paper weights, etcÂ… In the near future I plan on selling some examples of my work on Etsy and other sites like it.

This blog will be read by people from all over the world who love the idea of creating something from nothing with there own two hands and imagination to give you a sense of accomplishment once your piece is complete.”

Wire art is a way to be creative with wire. It has its own rules and its own challenges. If you want to learn more about wire art and why it is so unique, I encourage you to visit my blog.

Wire art is an art form that is drastically different than other arts. Wire art is unique for its simplicity, as well as its flexibility. Wire art does not need 3-D space to be viewed unlike any other type of art. In wire art all that is needed is some sort of a frame, and the piece can be viewed from almost any angle possible.

In wire art, the possibilities are endless. It can either be abstract or representational, which makes it a very versatile medium.

The idea of wire art came about in the early 1960’s when Michael Frimkess began making jewelry out of a base material called memory wire. Memory wire was originally used by dentists for braces and retainers because it has a memory quality to its shape.

Another name for wire art is kinetic sculpture although it is not limited to just sculptures; it can include jewelry as well as mobiles. With wire art, you can create anything from animals to faces and still have it look three dimensional although it looks two dimensional at first glance.

Wire art may appear simple but it takes lots of practice to master this craft.””

Art is always unique to the person making it, the medium of wire art allows you to create art fast and affordable. A single piece of wire can be used in a multitude of ways and allows for a wide range of expression. I have been fascinated by this medium for more than 30 years and have been creating wire art as long as I can remember, from high school up until present day. My love for this art form has not changed over time and I hope that my passion will come through on this blog.

Tattooed in magazines, on myspace pages, facebook profiles and many other places all over the world, my wire creations are featured in the full color book “Wire Art Jewelry” by Lark Books. This book is available in most craft stores or online at http://www.larkbooks.com/index.asp?PageAction=VIEWCATS&Category=542

I have also been featured in an issue of Bead & Button magazine entitled “Hearts Afire”, which is a great source for bead and jewelry making inspiration. Like any artist, I am always looking for new inspiration to fuel my creativity, some of my favorite forms of inspiration include picking up a pencil and sketching out ideas, or digging through vintage

I have been free falling for about 4 years. I started out learning how to make the basic mandala, and have built on that knowledge to make more complex pieces.

Free fall is a fun and addictive hobby that can be done at home or even in an office cubicle, as long as you have enough space to spread out the wires.

The first step is to decide what type of piece you want to make. Mandala’s are relatively simple, while some of my more complicated pieces took weeks to build. The basic shape is made out of smaller loops of wire bent into circles, and then connected with smaller loops to create the design you want.

Once that is made, it’s time for the fun part: Connecting all the loops together! This is a tricky process, and not all that easy to explain in words. There is a bit of finesse involved, but it’s mostly just trial and error. What I like most about this process is seeing new designs emerge as the pattern becomes clearer with each added piece.

The end result is something that looks like sculpture, but has movement and flow like a painting or photograph. It’s incredibly rewarding once you get the hang of it!

Wire art has gained popularity from craftsmen to collectors. It is very affordable with a wide variety of materials and styles. There is no doubt that wire art will continue to grow in popularity.

A wire artist will use many different types of wire to create a piece of art. The most popular wire used today is copper because it can be easily formed into any shape or pattern desired. The wire artist also uses several tools like pliers, screw drivers, etc. For example, when you are working with any type of metal the temperature must be cool so the material does not become damaged or break while creating the art work. If you have ever seen an artist working on a piece of wire art you will notice that they are constantly moving the object around to keep it from getting too hot. Also, when working with wire there is always a possibility that the wire could cut or puncture your skin so wearing gloves is recommended by all artists.

Wire art is a form of sculpture. The artist uses wire that is bent, twisted and arranged in such a way that the finished piece resembles something you can recognize, such as a bird or musical instrument.

The finished product does not need to be large. Many times the artist uses very thin wire to create pieces that are less than an inch in diameter.

Wire art is often used for jewelry but it can also be used in home decorating. Some people use their wire art to make wind chimes while others simply hang their pieces on the wall as interesting conversation pieces.

Each piece is different and made by hand. This means no two pieces are exactly alike since each is one-of-a-kind. The wire art process uses mostly copper and brass but other materials are also used such as aluminum and stainless steel.

The artistry of this type of sculpture starts with the design and creativity put into the piece by the designer, but there’s also an important technical side to it too. The designer has to know how to properly handle the wire so it doesn’t break or become damaged during construction.
