The event aimed to collect school supplies for students in need. The event was a resounding success, exceeding expectations and collecting a record-breaking amount of supplies. The event was a collaborative effort between the United Way, Highmark, and WGAL. Highmark provided financial support, while WGAL provided logistical support and media coverage. The Capital Area United Way, in turn, organized and managed the event.
The donations, primarily food and hygiene products, were destined for families in need across the region. The initiative, dubbed “Operation: Nourish,” was a collaborative effort between the Harrisburg Area Community Foundation, the Capital Area Intermediate Unit, and local businesses. The goal was to address food insecurity in the region, a growing concern that has been exacerbated by the pandemic.
