ART ANGELS is a blog about opportunities for artists (musical or not) around the world. It also provides information about grants, residencies, and all kinds of artistic possibilities.

Reviews are provided to help you decide whether to apply and then how to do it properly. The blog is written by two Americans and an Italian who live in Berlin and have been working in the field for over ten years.

Art Angels is a blog about opportunities for artists (musical or not) around the world. In publishing this blog, I have the pleasure to meet a lot of talented young people and give them my point of view on their art, while they give me theirs.

Trying to spread information on the web is one way to help make some things happen in the real world. It’s hard to know what will come out of it but I believe that if we are open minded and optimistic, we might be surprised by what can happen!

I have been working in the music industry for over 10 years as a professional singer, songwriter, producer and A&R scout. After having lived in New York for 5 years, I moved out to Berlin in May 2013 where I am now working as musician and A&R scout for various labels/artists.

Art Angels is a place to showcase the opportunities that exist for artists (musical or not), as well as those events and resources that are usually under the radar.

You are invited to send your information, links and resources to be featured on Art Angels, including: Opportunities for Artists in their field (i.e. Recording, Touring, Production, Promotion etc.)

I have written a lot about the opportunities for artists, musicians in particular, but I have always wanted to do more about it.

I am starting a new blog for that.

The blog will be called “art angels”. The name comes from an idea of Albert Camus’s that there are opportunities out there for the taking, and some of them might be able to help you develop your creative field.

The blog is not going to be a forum or a collective or anything like that. It is just going to be me writing and sharing things that I think can help people become better artists.

It was a time when Artist and Manager were at war. The Artist wanted to be free and not be controlled. The Manager wanted to control the Artist, take all of the money that they could and spit them out like yesterday’s news. The war took place during the early part of the 20th century when most music was played on 78rpm records.

That is when Record Producer came into the picture. They were the link between the Artist and the Record Label; they were there to guide and help both sides do their best work and make commercially viable recordings that would sell.

The Record Producers were not new; it was just a new name for an old position. They had always been there as far back as sheet music can be traced. The term “producer” was applied to those who produced sheet music for entertainment, education, academic and religious reasons. The people who performed, sold or distributed sheet music were called “publishers.”

Art Angels is a platform for artists and creative people to connect, collaborate and share their work with the world. It’s a place where you can network with other amazing artists, and get exclusive invites to the events, parties and opportunities that are taking place in your home town or city.
