One of the best parts about being a startup is attending the world’s largest startup expo. It is truly an amazing event and you always leave with a renewed sense of excitement for everything that comes after it.

However, there’s a lot that goes into preparing to attend and then being successful once there. If you don’t have the right mindset, it can be easy to get overwhelmed by the sheer number of people in attendance. We recommend taking some time to prepare so that you can enjoy everything the conference has to offer.*

A few weeks ago I was in Silicon Valley, on a mission to find out from the startup community what their top concerns are as they prepare for Startup World Expo 2012. I heard many great insights, but one thing that stood out to me was how great the demand is for more timely and targeted information about how to succeed at SXSW. That’s why we are excited to launch our first blog post in support of Startup World Expo 2012!

You need to be a little bit crazy and be willing to have a lot of fun. If you can’t have fun, then don’t come!

This is the biggest startup expo in the world and we want you to meet the best startups from around the world. However, it’s not only about meeting other startups, it’s also about learning how to be successful. We want you to leave here with knowledge and access that will help your business grow.

TNW is all about making sure you have an amazing time here in Amsterdam and that you meet new people who will help you grow your business. Don’t worry if you are alone as there are hundreds of people who will be more than happy to meet up with you at Startup Fest!

We know that many of our participants are coming from far away countries so we’ve made sure that we’ve got a great location this year (it’s close to public transport!) which means that it’ll be easy for everyone to get around Amsterdam during their stay here for TNW. You’ll also get a chance to see some amazing hospitality from our long time partner, Couchsurfing.com, who will provide accommodation for some of our attendees. There are going to be special events organised by TNW throughout the week so

Your startup is about to be on display for a few days in front of over 20,000 people, and you may not have even made up your mind yet on what you’re going to wear. But by now you’ve probably realized that there’s a lot more to getting ready for TechCrunch Disrupt than just picking out a nice pair of shoes.

You’re about to embark on the greatest test of your startup and its team, and we want to help make sure you succeed. So here are some tips and tricks we’ve gathered from our experience with hosting two Disrupts and running TechCrunch since 2007:

1) Make Sure Your Startup Is Ready For Prime Time

Your startup’s booth needs to reflect who you are and what you do. But it also has to show who you are right now — not who you were when you first got started or even yesterday. Nothing says “amateur” like old, outdated screenshots or wireframes or business cards. If possible, get everything new — including your website, business cards, demo video, etc.

Remember: The point of Disrupt is to meet investors and recruit talent — not just the press. So if it doesn’t look professional, some will assume your startup isn’t either.

2) Pick

I recently had the exhilarating experience of participating in my first Startup Week, in San Francisco. I had pitched a new idea to a VC firm and they encouraged me to get out there and meet people. So, I spent two days on a bus with 50 other startups from all over the country, pitching our ideas to whoever would listen.

Towards the end of the ride, I found myself deeply inspired by the people around me who were so enthusiastic about creating their own company and making an impact on the world. I’ve been a creative type since childhood and have always dreamt about starting my own company that reflected my passions. However, I never took the plunge because of fear. In fact, fear was holding me back from doing many things that I wanted to do. Fear of failure, fear of success, fear of being alone, fear of not being good enough…Fear seemed to be following me everywhere and was limiting my potential as a person.

The Startup Bus was a different kind of environment that allowed me to forget about my fears for a moment and instead think about what I could learn from others who had similar goals as me. It was a safe space where we all shared our ideas with each other and learned how to make things happen. As

On the first day of 2014, we kicked off our journey to the 31st International Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas. CES is touted as the world’s largest consumer electronics show and attracts close to 2,000 exhibitors and 150,000 attendees from all over the globe.

Tens of millions of dollars are spent by companies every year to showcase their latest innovations in consumer electronics and technology; whether it’s 3D printing, virtual reality gaming or voice recognition technology, CES has it all. The show also puts startups in a great position to get their products noticed by bigger players in the industry.

Flash Art is the largest international art and design fair in the world. It has been held in Italy every year since 1979, attracting an audience of over 100,000 people.

It is a platform for innovative art, design, fashion and music. It is one of the most important places to promote trends and new talents.

The Art Directors Club (ADC) offers its members the opportunity to enter their work into the Flash Forward Design Competition. The winner, chosen by a panel of jurors composed of curators, journalists, art directors and designers, will be awarded $5,000 USD.

The competition is open to all ADC members worldwide who are at least 18 years old at the time they enter their work. You must be an ADC member to enter your work into this competition. The deadline for entries is December 15th 2017.**
