My daughters are both young and I have been trying to think of ways to get them started with art. My oldest is going into 6th grade and my youngest is going into kindergarten. Both of my girls have a great interest in art, but they are so different. My youngest wants to create everything by herself while my oldest needs some guidance and help. But both of them love it when they can be creative and make things with their hands.
Trying to find different ways to engage them in art has been a bit challenging, especially since we are limited because we live in an apartment and don’t have room for all the supplies that come with painting, drawing, etc.
My oldest really likes being able to do her own thing and I like watching her create whatever she sees in her head. So I decided to introduce her to watercolor and see how she does on her own. We found this little set at the store that was very inexpensive and included some brushes, a pencil sharpener, a paintbrush for watercolor, paper towels and a place to put water for washing brushes when needed.
I gave her the supplies and let her paint away without any instruction or help from me; she did pretty well! She’s very proud of her work so far,
There is something about art and those who are great at it. They are expressive, inventive and full of imagination. They are also the most unique individuals of all time.
Although art is a form of creativity which does not really require any form of education to become proficient in, it is still considered a talent which has to be nurtured from an early age so that one can be successful in this field when they grow up.
