If you are planning to become a photographer then you should be aware that there are several ways to make money from photography.
The first is selling stock photographs. This means that you take some photos and then sell them to a stock agency. The agency resells them to other people who use them for websites, magazines, brochures, books, and other stuff. This is the best way to make money with your camera if you are just starting out.

The second way is selling fine art photography. This means that you take some photos and sell them as art pieces to buyers who like what they see in your photographs. If a picture is good enough it will fetch a higher price than the one for stock photography since it will be used for display purposes only and not for resale.

In the late 1850s a movement began in England that would influence art history for many years to come. The Pre-Raphaelites rebelled against what they saw as the stale academicism of the Royal Academy and looked to nature, history and myth for inspiration.
Writing on art is an absolute must if you are into photography. This can be defined as a good way to make money out of something you enjoy doing. There are thousands and more of people who pay professional photographers to take photos at their weddings and other special events such as graduations.

Toward making art photography pay:
There are two ways to make art photography pay. One is to create your own portfolio and submit it to stock agencies. The other is to build a clientele of paying customers to whom you can sell your photos. This article will deal with the latter; I’ll discuss how to approach stock agencies in a future article.
As a professional photographer, I have done weddings for over twenty years, but I also shoot nature, wildlife and scenic pictures, among others. In my experience, there are two ways to sell images – through galleries and via stock sites like Shutterstock or iStockPhoto.
The truth is that no one makes their living solely through selling their own photographs anymore – not even wedding photographers. Most people
Art is a sociable activity, so I’ve started an online art photo magazine called ARTphilia. The idea is to develop a community of people that are interested in art and want to share their own ideas and inspiration. I would like to hear your thoughts on this.
It’s a little rough around the edges, so bear with me as I get it filled with content. I’m hoping that people will find this site useful, and if you have any suggestions for content or ways to improve it then please let me know.
I have also put together some pages that might be helpful for people who want to learn about selling their photographs or images as well as photographers that are looking for stock photography opportunities.
Please feel free to use these articles, images or any other information on the site for your own purposes (with attribution of course).
I get asked a lot how to go about selling photographs. My first thought is that very few people are in the position to sell their photographs. This is because most of us are far more concerned with taking photos than we are with marketing them.
We all have our fingers crossed that someone, somewhere will see something worthwhile in what we do and offer us a deal. And this isn’t a bad way to go about it, but it’s not the best way either. The best way to sell photographs is to be the one doing the buying.
When you start thinking about your work as potential product, it changes your relationship to it. Things that were accidents become opportunities. Things that were mistakes become important lessons.
The flip side of this is that if you can’t afford to be a collector, and you can’t afford to be a dealer, then there may not be any place for your work on the market at all. But here’s where I would argue that being able to sell photographs is just one component of being a photographer. Selling is a means to an end, not an end itself. It’s like baking bread: you’ll only attract customers if the bread tastes good, but it still has value even if no one buys it.”
