Choosing The Right Chair: A blog about how to choose the right chair for your specific needs.
As designers, we use our workstations for everything from product creation to visiting clients, managing employees and working on new projects. It’s really important that we set up our workstation in a way that will help us be as productive as possible.
Today, we are going to talk about something very important in the workplace-your workstation. The workstation is the place where you do your work on a daily basis. There are many things to note about it, and we’re going to cover them in this article.
Whether you are using a computer or doing something completely different, your workstation is an essential part of your working environment. It is important that the space you use to do your job is well-designed to get the most out of it.
So let’s start with some basics. You must have a flat surface for your computer monitor and keyboard. This will allow for greater comfort when using these items during long periods of time. The best way to make sure that you have great posture while working at your desk is to invest in a high-quality ergonomic chair.*
You should also have a document holder and file cabinet placed near you so that you do not need to strain yourself when looking through papers or documents while working on them. If possible, place a trashcan near your desk as well so that you can quickly dispose of items that are no longer needed.*
Lastly, make sure that there are no distractions in your area! A great way to do this is by turning off all electronics
There are many schools of thought on how to create the perfect office space. Some say you should get a standing desk, others say you should get a treadmill desk. Some say your workspace should be minimal, others say you need to have lots of stuff around. There is no right way or wrong way, but there may be an optimal way for you…
Are you looking for the best place to put your computer? The desk with the largest drawers? The most storage space for papers?
If you’re designing an office, you’ll take a lot of factors into consideration. Will you need enough room for a conference table or should you focus on smaller cubicles? How many work stations will be needed and do you have enough budget for leather chairs throughout the office?
Where is the best location? You’ll think about air conditioning, heating and lighting. Answering these questions can be overwhelming.
One important factor that gets overlooked is how productive your employees will be at their desks. This has been studied and there are some important factors that make a big difference in productivity.
The rule of thumb is that every 10-degree increase in temperature can decrease productivity by as much as 15 percent. If it’s too cold, employees are uncomfortable and tend to keep their jackets on, making it difficult to concentrate. If it’s too warm, they will feel lethargic and drowsy. You want to maintain a temperature between 70 degrees and 76 degrees Fahrenheit.
It’s also important to have good lighting in the area where employees work. Low-quality lighting causes eye strain and eye fatigue which make it harder to concentrate
Most of the companies I have worked for in my career have had a workstation that was specifically designed for the job I was doing. These companies often had multiple workstations designed for various jobs. Some of them were adjustable workstations that could be reconfigured to other jobs, although they were usually designed with one specific job in mind.
