Paete is a small town in the province of Laguna, Philippines, with a rich cultural heritage and a thriving art scene. The town is known for its woodcarvings and woodturnings, which have been a part of its history for centuries. The name Paete is derived from the Filipino word for chisel, which is a nod to the town’s past as a major center for these crafts. The exhibit features a wide range of artworks, including paintings, sculptures, and woodcarvings.
There Pawcasso has a piece by the renowned artist, Maria Luisa P.
Artists such as Jody Smith, Laura McAllister, and Brian Kallio, made new art pieces specifically for Hound Haven, including a painting of a dog in a tree, a painting of a dog on the art piece of a local dog, and a portrait of a dog in a tree. The artists used the 40% of the sales revenue that will go to Hound Haven’s programs to fund their own projects, including a dog training program, a dog rescue and rehabilitation center, and a community outreach program.
