In a previous blog post I shared the basics of alcohol ink and how you can use them in combination with other craft supplies (such as watercolors or inks) to create unique artwork. In this post I want to share 20+ alcohol ink art ideas that will rock your world!
This is a blog about alcohol ink and other methods that use alcohol inks as the medium to create art. Alcohol inks are a type of dye based ink that can be used in many different ways to create some amazing effects.
You will find lots of creative ideas for using alcohol ink on the web, but very few places exist where you can find all those ideas together, and even less where you can find ideas that allow you to get started quickly and easily. The second thing I want to tell you is that, in my opinion, the best modern alcohol ink art is simple and colorless.
That may seem like a contradiction of what I said before. But it really isn’t. In fact, it’s another reason why I love alcohol inks so much.
I am not a big fan of mixing colors. It’s an immature way to use alcohol ink. (The “mixing colors” is only immature if you think that making something beautiful is about making other people happy.)
If someone uses a lot of colors in a piece, I will assume that he or she doesn’t know how to use color well. And if I try to mix up some colors myself, I will usually be disappointed with the results – unless I spend a lot of time experimenting with them. That’s because there are just too many variables involved in mixing colors – which will change depending on the surface, the application method, and even the brand of alcohol inks being used – for someone who doesn’t have a lot of experience with it to get good results right away.

Dip-Dry Technique
The dip-dry technique is one of the most commonly used techniques in alcohol ink art today. It involves submerging a paper towel into an alcohol ink color, allowing it to dry and then repeating the process with another color. The paper towel absorbs the first color leaving a beautiful gradient effect on the second color. Using different sized papers can also produce different effects ranging from bold to subtle.
The dip-dry technique can be used on its own or it can be incorporated into other techniques such as marbling and spritzing to create unique pieces of art.
Spritzing Technique
Using a spray bottle filled with water while painting with alcohol inks will produce beautiful results. Alcohol ink was designed to be permanent when dry so you do not have to worry about smudging it or anything like that when you use a spray bottle! The best part about spritzing your work is that it is
