1. Select your materials carefully – Make sure your framing materials are archival quality or acid-free, so your art will last for years to come. You can use UV resistant glass and/or museum glass, which blocks 99% of UV rays and is less likely to break than regular glass or Plexiglas®. For extra protection, use polystyrene foam insulation between backboard and glass instead of spacers, especially when framing collages or works on paper. This gives better support and will keep the artwork from touching the glass and getting damaged by condensation if temperature changes occur.
