The Statue of David is one of the most famous and iconic pieces of art in the world, and it’s also one of the most copied. It was created by Michelangelo in his lifetime, but it wasn’t until after his death that it became what it is today.
What makes this sculpture so unique is the detail put into it. Michelangelo crafted every single muscle on David’s body, including how each muscle would react when he was fighting Goliath. The statue is made to look like David right before he killed Goliath, with his sling shot in hand, and a slight wind motioning his head to the side and curls in his hair.

The Mona Lisa, perhaps Leonardo da Vinci’s most famous work, is an oil painting on wood panel and is currently on display at the Musée du Louvre. It is believed that the painting was created between 1503 and 1506.
The piece was painted during the Italian Renaissance, which took place from the 14th through 16th century. Leonardo da Vinci was a painter, sculptor, architect, musician and scientist. Although we refer to him as “Leonardo,” his real name was Leonardo di ser Piero da Vinci. He was born in 1452 and died in 1519.
Titled “La Gioconda” (which means “the happy woman”), the portrait has become one of the world’s most recognizable paintings. It depicts Lisa Gherardini del Giocondo, the wife of wealthy Florentine merchant Francesco del Giocondo. It is said that da Vinci began this painting in 1503 but did not finish it until three years later. In fact, its name comes from when it was finally completed — “La Gioconda” means that she is smiling or happy.
