1. Create a chalkboard wall.

Or you can create your own chalkboard wall from scratch by painting any smooth surface with a coat of primer and then covering it with several coats of chalkboard paint. Just make sure to seal the edges so that the paint doesn’t peel away over time.

Some people like to cover their entire walls with chalkboard paint, but if you’re not ready to commit, you can also add a chalkboard border around an accent wall. Once you’ve finished painting, let the wall dry overnight before you get started drawing.*
