The world of street art is very exciting nowadays, it is full of incredible and wonderful creations that surprise us every day. However, this movement is often misunderstood or even taken for vandalism by some people, who don’t take the time to appreciate what they are looking at.
To try to change this way of thinking and to offer a point of view on the subject, here is a blog on street art dedicated to anyone that wants to know more about this field, its artists and their works.
The practice of street art is a beautiful form of art. It is made in public places and done by artists who often don’t want to be identified for fear of being arrested for vandalism. Though it is illegal, the authorities usually let it slide as long as the graffiti isn’t offensive or doesn’t cover too much area.
Street art is most often done with spray paint and sometimes markers, but more recently the use of stencils has become popular. Some street artists are political in their work, and some are not. Some use their art to make a statement about social issues, while others do it just for the challenge or because they like to see their name or tag on walls or trains. Many believe that street art should remain anonymous while others believe that they should reveal themselves if they want recognition and respect for their work.
The best part about this form of art is that you don’t have to be rich or have an expensive camera to take photographs of it. You can do this with your cell phone or even just with your camera phone. There are plenty of apps available to enhance your photos and give them a more “artistic” look if you aren’t satisfied with the photo you took right away.*

Street art is generally about painting or drawing on a public building, bridge, or even utility box that is not an authorized wall for graffiti. This form of expression has been around since the beginning of humanity, from the cave paintings of prehistoric peoples to the political murals of modern times.
Street artists use graffiti paint to create murals on walls. The street artist’s influences are diverse and range from pop culture to classic works of art. Murals can be planned or commissioned, small or large in size, painted alone or collaboratively.
Sometimes a theme will have social significance and sometimes it will be fun and whimsical. A street artist is an artist who paints in public places for everyone to see and enjoy.
Street art is a form of graffiti which does not have the same amount of vandalism and violence in it. Street art is more like a type of public art and can be used to improve an area, city, or neighborhood. It often uses large-scale murals to create visual interest and beautify areas with aesthetically pleasing imagery. Some people even use it as a way to spread positive awareness.
Named after the illegal graffiti that was first tagged on walls found primarily in New York City, street art has now become a legitimate form of art in many places throughout the world. There are different types of street art, including stencils, wheatpasting (wherein adhesive paper is covered in glue and then applied to the wall), sticker art (wherein stickers are placed on surfaces), installations, and performance pieces. The latter one is known as “Situationalism” wherein the artists go into a public place and perform artwork or activities that affect the public but do not inconvenience them. They are also called “Happenings”.

Street artists are a special kind of artist. They work in the open and often at night, using materials that are cheap or free. They don’t show their work in galleries to be bought by collectors. They have no interest in becoming famous by exhibiting their art.
Street art is the work of people who have found (or perhaps been led to) a way of expressing themselves that doesn’t require money or cooperation from other people. It’s not an accident that street art is most alive and well in places where there is a lot of poor and marginalised people, places where it’s socially acceptable to cross boundaries, to be visible and audible when and how you want to be. The power of street art is that it can be created without permission, but it also can speak loudly.
It’s important to remember that graffiti is only one kind of street art, though it’s become the most famous because it was associated with hip hop culture which was associated with gang culture which became associated with anti-social behaviour which became associated with moral panic about “youths.” Street art isn’t inherently good or bad; it’s just different from most other kinds of art.
