I am a small space decorator and I love what I do. I get paid well to work with people who lack the time and expertise to make their small spaces beautiful. I have learned a lot about what works in small spaces. I have also learned a lot about what doesn’t work.

Today, I am sharing my knowledge with you in the form of The 5 Commandments of Small Space Design. These are rules that are not mine alone but are based on the collective wisdom of my colleagues and clients over the years.

Designing a small space is less about making it appear bigger and more about creating a comfortable and interesting living environment. The most important thing to remember when decorating a small space is to keep everything in proportion.

Trying to make your small space look larger than it really is can lead to some awkward choices.

The main consideration when designing a small space should be functionality. Make sure that the pieces of furniture you choose are multifunctional and serve multiple purposes.

You want your guests to feel at ease in your home, so avoid overcrowding the available space. A cluttered floor plan can quickly make a room feel smaller than it actually is.

Let us look at the five commandments of small space design:

1) Don’t clear out your closet or attic on a whim; if you’re going to get rid of things, do it with purpose.

2) Take care of your belongings by storing them properly, so that you have easy access to them when you need them. Store like items together (books with books, kitchen utensils together, etc.) This will help ensure that you don’t lose anything.

3) Resurrect old or unused furniture and give them new life in different arrangements. You might be surprised how something as simple

Hi there! I’m a professional interior designer and blogger who specializes in helping people to decorate very small spaces in a smart way.

Here are some tips to consider for designing your small space so that you feel at home and comfortable living there.

1. The use of color is perhaps the most important thing to consider when you’re decorating a small space. Color can be used to good effect to make spaces look larger than they really are, so choose colors carefully. Although many people think that colors like red, orange and yellow will appear to make a room look bigger, this is not necessarily true. These colors tend to be very energetic and active, which will usually make a small space seem smaller rather than larger if you use them as the predominant colors. Choose colors that are more neutral such as soft yellows or greens (or pastels) instead of reds or oranges.

2. When you’re decorating your small space, it’s important to think about the furniture arrangement and where the furniture will go in relation to the walls of the room and other pieces of furniture in order to maximize floor space and make the most out of your room.

3. When you’re decorating your small space, it’s best to try not using too much clutter

I am a big fan of the Zen of design and I feel that, in general, it applies to small space decorating. That said there are some small spaces where your only option is to go for broke with color!

1. Go for gold- If you love bright colors and are going for a fun or whimsical style then go for it! But if you have children (especially under 3) or pets make sure the color doesn’t come off on clothing or the animals. Also take into account any damage the color might do to furnishings.

2. Make a statement- Bold colors can really draw the eye and make a small space more interesting. However do consider what your space is saying about you as well as how you will feel about it every day. Bright reds and oranges can be very energizing but not always relaxing. And remember that one bold color does not mean a room is done…

3. Don’t overdo it- If you are going to use bright colors in your decorating scheme use them sparingly; this is where I feel the application of the Zen of design comes into play. You have a small space so don’t forget to apply this idea to your choice of colors as well as your furniture and accessories! The 5

First let me say, I am not an interior designer by any means. I am just a girl with a laptop who loves to decorate her space. My blog is all about the creative ideas and projects I come up with for my small, yet cozy NYC apartment.

I started this blog in hopes to share my ideas and creativity to others who may be looking for help on how to design their spaces. This blog is going to show you room design ideas that are both chic and inexpensive.

Small spaces can be great, but they can be tough to decorate. You want to feel cozy and comfortable in your own space without it feeling too cluttered and without sacrificing the aesthetics of your home.

A lot of people live in small spaces. Whether it’s a studio apartment or a dorm room, the decorating challenge is the same: how can you make your home feel open and spacious when it is really quite limited? I myself have recently been faced with this challenge, as I’m living for a year in a pretty small apartment. So I’ve been doing a little research into ways to make that happen.

1. Open up floor space

The first thing you want to do is eliminate clutter and open up your floor space. There are two ways to do this: either put things away (and out of reach), or get rid of them entirely. Don’t keep things lying around on the floor that you don’t absolutely need. As far as getting rid of them goes, sometimes it’s easier said than done! You might want to take some time to think through your possessions and figure out which ones are truly important to you, and which ones you could live without. If you can afford it, consider investing in furniture that has drawers or cabinets for storage; if not, just look for things that hide their storage areas, like bookshelves with sliding doors and end tables with drawers underneath. In my own case, I am moving soon, so
