Paper mache is one of the oldest crafts in the world, with roots in ancient Egypt, China and India. The first paper mache objects are believed to have been created in China around 200 BC. I have been working on paper crafts as an amateur artist for several years now, experimenting with different types of paper mache art models and sculptures, trying to push the boundaries of what can be done through this craft. Paper mache is a skill that I have learned, and the sculptures that I have made are the best that I could do. My intention was to push the boundaries of paper mache with my art.

For example, my first attempt at making a lion was a failure because it did not look anything like a lion; it looked more like an elephant.

My second lion was made from clay because I thought that maybe I could learn something about sculpting lions by sculpting them out of clay. It turned out that the clay helped me think about what I needed to change about the way that I sculpted my lions; when I made another one, I knew how to make it better than before.
