The history of mirror art goes back decades ago, and this kind of style has been practiced all along through various artists in the world. Generally speaking, there are no rules when it comes to making mirror art, and they can be done by using any material suitable for an artist to work on. This includes glass and acrylic sheets which are then covered in paint and are set behind a pane of glass or a piece of wood. The best part about this type of art is that it has inspired many artists today to be more creative with their own work because they see how much effort the original artists put into theirs.

As the name suggests, mirror art is an art form that uses mirrors as its primary medium. Mirror art can be very simple or extremely complex and can be made from simple household items or even computer aided designs. The most famous piece of mirror art is probably the Michael Jackson “Thriller” music video, which used thousands of hand-cut pieces of mirror to create the zombie dance sequence at the end of it. Most people are somewhat familiar with this type of artwork but many do not know that the origins of mirror art date back to ancient times.

Taken from Greek mythology, Narcissus was a man who fell in love with his own reflection in a pool. His infatuation caused him to eventually lose all sense of reality and he died gazing at his own reflection in the pool’s water. This story has been re-imagined many times over the years through works of art and writings. Mirror art: the practice of drawing on a mirror, then photographing it and making a print. It is also known as “reflection art” or “mirror writing”.

Mirror art has been around since at least the early 1900s. The earliest mention of it in print I could find was in Collier’s magazine in December 1929, where author Reginald Wright Kauffman called it “The world’s newest mandarin art.” He said it was practiced by “cultured young women who now find solace from their domestic duties in tracing fantastic designs of Oriental origin upon their dressing-room mirrors.”

The following year, in 1930, Life magazine published photographs of some photograms made by Dr. Frank E. Ross, a physician from Chicago who had discovered that injecting liquids into his stomach produced images on the surface of his abdomen and back. Some of them were recognizable as anatomical features; others were perhaps more fanciful.

Mirror art is a form of glass etching in which an image is painted on the back side of a mirror, and then the image is reflected onto a wall or other surface.

The technique was used to create decorative glass mirrors in ancient Egypt, Greece and Rome. It also has been used to decorate windows, table tops, furniture and dinnerware. In the past couple of decades it has become popular again as decorative pieces and home decor items such as mirrors, clocks, plates and jewelry.

At first glance, mirror art appears to be a type of stencil art. But there are two major differences between mirror art and stencils: 1) While a stencil is opaque and covers the glass underneath, mirror art is transparent; 2) A stencil is designed to be painted through via airbrushing or other means. Mirror art involves painting directly on the back side of the glass.

The history of the mirror art goes back to the Stone Age. The first objects made with glass were beads and ornaments, used to decorate women’s clothes, like in Egypt and Mesopotamia. Later on, after its invention by a Phoenician artisan during the Roman Empire, mirror art became a fashionable commodity. Mirrors were produced by the Romans between 1st century BC and 3rd century AD and they were an important part of daily life. People would usually carry a small mirror with them, made out of polished metal or bronze, although there are records from the Republic of Venice (12th century) that mention mirrors being sold in shops as well.
