What you will need:
1. Aspen wood fibers. To find these, simply pick through some twigs and small branches of aspen trees. The fibers should be very easy to pull apart; if they are stiff, they are not suitable for weaving.*
2. A sharp knife or a piece of glass.*
3. Two or more sticks, each about the width of your index finger, for holding the fibers taut and in place.*
4. Cordage for weaving, such as wool yarn or cotton string, or even thin wire.*
5. A smooth surface on which to weave, such as a chalkboard or piece of slate.*
6. An awl (or anything else that can be used as an awl), for poking holes in the fiber for the cordage to go through.*
7. A pair of clippers or scissors (might I suggest using both?).
