Use What You Have – This is probably one of the most important tips if you want to hang art on a budget. Instead of buying a new frame, see what you might already have in frames that could use an update. Maybe that old photo frame from grandma could use some paint? However, some people may not have the funds to spend on expensive art pieces when they are first starting out.

This doesn’t mean that you can’t decorate your home with art. Here are some ideas for wall art that is easy on the wallet:

1. Make It Yourself

The best way to afford artwork is to make it yourself! Think of all the possibilities available to you – from hand-painted canvas, to framed photographs, to whatever you can dream up!

2. Buy Vintage

If you are looking for something a little more unique than your average frame or canvas, consider buying vintage. I have been on a mission for some time now to find decorating art for my walls that is both beautiful and cheap. It’s not so easy to do, but I have found some ways to make it work.

Here are some examples of how I put it all together.

Hanging wall art without damaging your walls is tricky. There are a number of ways to do it, but most require some pretty expensive materials.

I saw this great idea on Pinterest and decided to give it a try. All you need to make your own “shadow box” for wall art is an empty picture frame, some thin cardboard and some vinyl contact paper. The best part is that all materials can be purchased at the dollar store for less than $10!

My husband made this one for my daughter’s room in about 1 hour total time. Here are the steps we used:

1. Purchase your ingredients

2. Take out any existing glass from your frame (if applicable) 3. Measure and cut a piece of thin cardboard to fit the back of the frame 4. Tape the cardboard to the back of the frame 5. Apply vinyl contact paper to the back of the frame 6. Hang on wall using Command Strips or other removable adhesive

Here’s what it looks like after we applied it 🙂
