One Line Art is a drawing blog that features various works of art that only use one or two lines. All of the works are hand drawn and all are related to the theme of “one line”. The artist is always sure to include a short description of the piece, the name of it, and what medium was used for it.

Titles include “Halloween One Line Art”, “One Line Circus”, “One Line Flower”, and “One Line Skull”. Each piece is not only simple but also incredibly detailed and intricate. The pieces provide a lot of information without feeling cluttered or overwhelming to viewers.

One line art is a style of drawing that requires the artist to convey their concepts with the least amount of lines possible. The idea is to create a single line, or very few lines, that can be appreciated by itself without the need for shading or other added details. One line art can be done with any medium, but usually it is done with pencil and paper due to the low cost and ease of use.

Sketching one-liners can be a great way to practice your drawing skills, hone your creativity, stretch your imagination, and develop better visual thinking skills.

One-liners are also perfect for anyone who wants to add a little bit of creative flair to their desk or workspace. Add some life to your cubicle wall with some framed one liners!

One Line Art is the creation of simple, hand-drawn art and illustrations. These one line drawings create a lot of complexity in their simplicity. The One Line Art blog features these one line art images as well as one line drawings by artists.

One of the reasons I started this blog was to have a place to put the drawings that I love, but which don’t seem to fit anywhere. They’re not illustrations for an article or book, they’re not design concepts or sketches for projects, and they’re not finished pieces. They might end up in a book if I keep them around long enough, but for now they’re just something I’d like to share with you.

So here’s what you can expect: A new post every Wednesday. A collection of hand drawn one line art ranging from silly and whimsical to profound and thoughtful. No text or color, just the drawing itself and a title if it needs one.

I hope you enjoy them.*

One line art is a form of art in which one drawing, or a series of drawings, are executed with one continuous stroke of the pencil/pen/brush etc. The result is an image that looks like it was done by one single motion.

¶The images that make up this blog were done by me and my sister from July 2012 to September 2012. The original intent was to just keep track of our progress as we worked on honing our skills for future art endeavors. But on the side we thought it would be fun to make some cool looking drawings and post them online for everyone to see. We hope you enjoy them!

¶This blog is about sharing one line art. It is not about posting finished works of art. To get the full effect of these images, it is best to view them at full size.

¶These drawings were done using regular pencils (2H-4H), mechanical pencils (0.5mm-2mm), fine liners (0.1mm-0.3mm), ball point pens (0.38mm-0.5mm), brush pens (Brush Pen Pro) and watercolors (Crescent Painter’s Colors).

Some of my favorite graphic designers are those that draw and sketch their own work rather than use computer software. Before I discovered this site, I always thought that drawing was a talent that you were born with or not. But this site has opened my mind to the fact that anyone (yes, even me) can learn to draw.

I love the simplicity of these drawings and how they always have a little touch of humor. These drawings could be turned into beautiful wall art for your home or office. If you don’t have a lot of money to spend on art, these drawings are perfect for you. They are simple enough to print out and frame yourself!

For those who do like to use computer software for drawing, there are plenty of tutorials on the site as well.

This site is also great because it is updated every week with new drawings, so it’s always fresh. You won’t get bored looking at the same thing over and over again.

I suggest checking out this site if you’re interested in some quick art for your home or office or if you just want to see some really talented artists!

I am an artist and I love to draw. I like to use ballpoint pens on loose paper. Ballpoint pens are more forgiving and aren’t as sharp as a permanent marker. That way you can make mistakes and it won’t show up when you scan the art.

This blog features my drawings that were done in a loose sketchbook and were scanned with my Fujitsu ScanSnap iX500 scanner and edited on Paint Shop Pro X4.

Enjoy!
