A photographer is defined by his/her vision. The best photographers in the world have a unique and powerful way of looking at the world that is expressed through their photography.

When you agree to photograph someone’s pregnancy, it is a big responsibility. It is important to give your clients what they want, but it is also important for you to use your own vision and not just shoot what they expect.

For example, I made a photo of a woman standing with her hand on her belly and her head turned in profile. It was a very pretty photo, but it didn’t really show off her belly. To me, this photo was missing something so I added some texture in Photoshop and changed the colors of the image. This simple addition made all the difference in the world. It made the photo more artistic and much more appealing than the original version.*(http://www.magnoliaphotos.com/blog/everything-a-photographer-needs-to-know-before-shooting-prenatal-pictures/)

TIP

Pregnant women are not models. I am a photographer and I have been taking pictures of pregnant women for about 3 years now. Most of the time I work with women who are also photographers. . . . .

I would like to share a few things I have learned that might help you get better shots of your own pregnant subjects.

The first thing an experienced photographer needs to know is that pregnant women are not models and you will need to understand a different way of shooting if you want to get good shots of a pregnant woman. The biggest difference is the lack of control. Pregnant women are not in control they can’t pose themselves, they can’t move themselves, they can’t do anything but lay there and wait for you to shoot them. With this lack of control comes the necessity of working fast and making quick decisions on the fly. You are going to be working at 5x speed in comparison to your regular shoots so it’s best if you prepare ahead of time for some basic situations.

The first month of your baby’s life is a time when you will come to hold your newborn in the highest esteem. You will find that he or she has more skills than you ever imagined and at the same time, more needs than you have ever seen.

Your job is not only to provide food and shelter, but also to keep your little one content and comfortable. If you are like most new parents, you will be eager to document every step of your baby’s development from the beginning.

Baby photography can be an exciting hobby. It can also make for wonderful keepsakes that can last a lifetime. However, with all of the digital advances and all the new gadgets available for taking pictures these days, it’s helpful to know what kind of photo equipment would work best for documenting your child from birth on up.*

To produce a quality photograph, there are several factors that must be considered:

*The subject matter

*The type of camera

*Lighting arrangements

*Image resolution

You may have heard it said that good cameras don’t make good photographers; rather, good photographers make good images. This is true in many cases, but there is no getting around the fact that the right camera equipment makes it easier to create pictures that are true to life

The pre-Raphaelites were a group of nineteenth century artists who rejected the Renaissance and its focus on the human form. They sought to restore an earlier, medieval style of painting and in doing this, they reintroduced color and light into their works.

Disciples of John Ruskin, they believed that art should be “true” to nature. The natural world was their subject matter and they painted the subjects they saw everyday: landscapes, plants, people and animals.

Tranquility was the mood they created through their art; tranquility was a reaction against the rapid industrialization taking place during their time. They wanted beauty to be appreciated again after it had been overshadowed by soot and smoke from early factories.

In order to help give an idea of what it would be like to experience one of these paintings first hand, take a look at these beautiful photos taken inside some amazing pre-Raphaelite paintings!

The Pre-Raphaelite Movement was a group of English painters who, as the name suggests, were heavily influenced by the Italian Renaissance painter Raphael. The Pre-Raphaelites reinterpreted religious themes in their artwork, and are credited with influencing the formation of the modern techniques of painting.

Tate Britain houses an extensive collection of their artwork, including paintings, drawings and prints.

Pre-Raphaelite art is known for its strong use of color, detail and natural settings. The work is often described as being romantic or dreamlike and has a strong focus on women and children.

The Pre-Raphaelite style was popularized in the 19th century through the work of John Everett Millais, Dante Gabriel Rossetti and William Holman Hunt. These artists were also influenced by the works of JMW Turner and James McNeill Whistler.**
