The paintings in this blog are created by the artist, who is a dog lover. She has a passion for capturing the unique look and personality of each dog.

The paintings are available in many sizes, from really small to really large.

In addition to the framed and unframed oil paintings, there are prints on canvas, stretched and ready to hang or roll. If you have an idea of what size you’d like, email the artist at art@dogportraits.com.

The dog portraits can be custom painted in any color(s). You can choose one of our standard background colors (black or white) or a custom background color that fits your décor.

You can also add a touch of humor by having the dogs dressed up in your team’s jersey or as your favorite super hero. Or if your pet has passed on, we can even paint them as though they’re still here with you! Your imagination is the limit!

Once you find something you like, send us an email requesting more information or to order one of your own.’

Ikea is famous for its inexpensive furniture. But the company also has a line of more expensive, limited-edition products, sold only in a few of their stores in key cities (usually the ones closest to design schools). One of them is paintings of dogs.

Treating dogs like they’re people seems strange, especially if you don’t care much for dogs. But we think this is a great idea. We don’t have a dog and don’t know anyone who does, but we’d love to have one of these paintings on our wall. Each painting combines a photo of your dog with one of Ikea’s many patterns; there are over 70 to choose from.

The paintings are about 2′ x 3′, so that makes them large enough to fill most walls without dominating them too much. They are also cheap enough that you can get several, or give one as a gift to someone who has a dog you particularly like. Please note: we are not saying you should get one for yourself if you don’t like dogs! Just that if you did like them, this would be the way to go about it.

A few years back I bought a dog portrait from Ikea. Is that ironic? No, not really. There’s nothing ironic about it. It’s perfect. I was young, alone and bereft in a new city. I wanted to remember something from where I came from. I had no friends or family in the place where I’d landed. So for $10, and probably $4 worth of gas, I got a little piece of home that made me feel like things were going to be OK.

Thing is though, the dog didn’t look anything like the dog it was supposed to be painted after. He was some other dog, some other kind of goofy mixed-breed mutt with curly hair and a floppy mouth and a goofy grin. He looked like me more than he did my dog; he looked like the sort of dog that would hang out at a bar and bark at people when they walked by, but also would hang out in an alleyway of some dive bar with a bunch of other dogs, drinking 40s until they puked on themselves. But you know what? That’s fine too because this dog looked happy and if we’re being honest here then we all want to be happy so who cares if he doesn’t look exactly

Lots of people have at one time or another drawn, painted, sketched or even sculpted their dog. Some have even shared their art with others. The problem is that most of these efforts are held by the artist, who can’t bear to part with a drawing or painting that is so deeply personal and who probably doubts it’s anyone else’s cup of tea.

It’s a shame, because these pictures are wonderful, and we’d all enjoy seeing them if only someone would gather them together in one place. That’s what this blog is about. We’ll feature portraits from as many artists as possible, as well as interesting and amusing commentary on the art and artists themselves.

I have posted animal portraits by local artists on my site, but I thought it was time to feature some dog art. The first piece is named “Karma Dog.” The artist had this to say about his work: “This is a portrait of Karma, a 5 year old female who is part golden retriever and part something else. She does not like to be called a ‘mutt’! Karma loves her tennis ball and her squeaky toys. She also enjoys running around in the sprinklers.”

The second piece is named “Sophie.” The artist had this to say about his work: “This is a portrait of Sophie, a two-year old female who is part pit bull and part something else.”

Dog paintings are made of acrylic paint on canvas. Dog paintings are available in all sizes. Acrylic painting is a good choice as it is durable and can be framed easily. Dog portraits look wonderful on the walls of your home or office or even in your dining room.

Titled The Gift, the painting was painted by Swedish artist Carl Kleiner and is said to be worth $1million.

The abstract painting has been created using only black and white paint, with the black paint creating areas of shadow on the dogs body.

Art is the most important thing in human culture, and the most controversial. Everyone has opinions, and they are all different.

There is a sense in which art is our greatest achievement. It seems to be what makes us human. Many people think this is why art can’t really be taught. When you discover a great new artist, it isn’t just that he knows how to do things you didn’t know how to do; it’s that he does things you don’t even know how to talk about doing.

But there is another sense in which art isn’t our greatest achievement at all, because it’s not very different from what other animals do. All animals make choices about how to move and how to eat; those choices express their genes’ interests, so we could think of them as making aesthetic choices. Dolphins form themselves into patterns when they swim in schools; birds choose mates by their song; many creatures make decisions based on color, or symmetry, or something else we could call an artistic choice.

The difference between animals and humans is not that humans make aesthetic choices but that we make so many of them. Humans create artworks about everything: about nature, about politics, about science, about philosophy—about anything we can think of. That’s our
