One of the more common questions I get asked by my clients is how to create a strong portfolio. This is a really excellent question, because no matter what you’re trying to do with your art, having an impressive and compelling portfolio is key. It’s not enough to just be good at making the images or drawings – you have to know how to present them in the best possible way so that people take notice and want to hire you for their projects.
I’ve created a blog aimed at helping artists learn about creating the ultimate portfolio for yourself, ranging from advice on what to include in your portfolio (and what not to include) all the way through design tips and even some ideas for taking your work from “good” all the way up to “great.” If you’re looking for advice on how to improve your own portfolio or if you’d like advice on creating one from scratch, this blog is a great place to start!
I’ll show you how to present yourself in a way that’s professional, unique and conveys your passion for art.
I’ll give you tips on how to improve your photography and graphic design skills as well as ways to create images that are interesting and tell a story.
I’ll also give you tips on how to showcase your skills to potential clients and employers.
I’ll even show you how I market my own work, including print sales, online sales, digital downloads and licensing my images.*
All of this is specific to artists with hard-to-categorize or abstract styles. You can be an illustrator, painter or photographer.
If you’re just starting out, or if you need help creating a portfolio from scratch, I have advice for that too.

I’m on a mission to tell you everything I know about creating your portfolio, from marketing yourself to finding the best printing company.

The process of creating a professional portfolio is one that every artist will no doubt face at some point in their career. From my own personal experience, it can be quite daunting trying to collect together your best pieces of work, and present them in a cohesive manner.
I hope that this post will help you to understand the process better, as well as offer some tips on how to make the task a little less daunting.
David Choe’s art has been seen by millions on the walls of Facebook and featured in galleries around the world.
He’s also had hundreds of art shows, including a major museum show in Korea.
But how did he get his start?
In this post, David shares his experience and what he learned while creating his own portfolio.
We’ve all had that moment. You’re standing in front of the mirror, about to go out for a night on the town with your friends. You look at your outfit and suddenly realize it’s not going to cut it. You have a choice: you can either change into something else or you can use this opportunity to become inspired and create something new.
Trying too hard is a real problem for artists. It’s easy for many people to think that if an artist slaved away on an image for hours on end, then that image must be amazing. Unfortunately, it doesn’t work that way.
Building a portfolio is much like putting together an outfit for going out with friends: you can’t go wrong with creating something new!
