Joshua Chua, a 26 year old Singapore artist recently featured in The New York Times, was born of Chinese/Indian parentage. He graduated from the Lasalle College of the Arts in Singapore and completed his Master’s at Slade School of Fine Art in London. His work has been exhibited internationally and he is currently represented by The Art Collage, a Singapore based gallery, which showcases contemporary art and primitive art.

Tired of the monotony of landscapes, Chua began to explore themes beyond his immediate environment. He started with figurative works before moving on to more conceptual pieces. By using everyday objects like books and magazines as well as food stuffs such as chocolate, he experienced a sense of joy at how well they blended with his colors and shapes.

He explains that ‘there is no right or wrong way to look at my work; it is more about how I want to make you feel when you see my creation’. For example, the use of chocolate evokes feelings of decadence and pleasure for viewers whose mouths are watering for the taste of chocolate but cannot have it. It can also be interpreted as an element that can be shared among friends.

As an artist, Joshua Chua is a purist. No paintbrushes or canvases here. The soft-spoken artist prefers his medium to be wood, layers of paper and other found objects.

Chua’s favourite material is the collage, which he uses to create masterpieces that are as much about colour and pattern as they are about form and structure.

As the founder of The Art Collage studio in Singapore, Chua helps local children and young adults discover their creative potential. His work has been exhibited at various art fairs in Asia and he has worked with several high-profile companies in Singapore, including DBS Bank, Nippon Paint and Singtel.

Joshua Chua is a young Asian artist that uses the collage method of art to create beautiful pieces that are very graphic in nature. He has been doing collage art for a few years now, and it is something that he has been doing since he was a small child.

It’s interesting to see how he makes his pieces as he uses many unique and different materials to create his pieces. The collage method is used by artists around the world, but it seems like Joshua Chua might have found some new ways to use it to make some really fresh and original pieces of art. He uses many different colors and materials in his work, which is what makes the art so bright and colorful. It’s really amazing how he puts all of his pieces together because there are thousands of stickers and many more different types of materials placed on top of each other to make one big piece of art.

Joshua Chua has created many different pieces throughout the years, but one group that is extremely popular with people are the black series type pieces. These are amazing because they are so simple yet they look so great. All you see on these pieces are black paper, white paint, and a lot of stickers being used in order to make the most beautiful works of art ever created.

What does an artist do? The question seems simple, but in fact there are many different kinds of artists and many different kinds of art. As you might have guessed, I’m an artist. But it’s not as simple as it sounds.

I like to think that my art is a way to express values that I think are important–express them in such a way that other people can understand them and hopefully feel the same way I do.

Art is important because it affects people. Some kinds of art are meant to entertain and some are meant to educate, but all kinds of art affect the way we see the world around us and the way we feel about each other. That’s what makes art so interesting: it can be any form that has an effect on anyone who sees or hears or reads it. My own art is meant to make people think about how they treat each other, how they treat the earth, how far they go in pursuing their individual goals, and whether those goals are compatible with what is good for society as a whole.

What makes a work of art good? There is no single answer; it depends on your point of view. But for me, if a work of art makes me feel something new, then it must be good.
