If you are a beginner and you want to start collecting art, where should you start? The answer depends on what style of art you like.

There are different types of art. Some of the most popular types of art are: abstract, figurative, modern, pop art, and impressionist. Abstract art is not literal. Figurative art represents objects or people in real life. Pop art is commercialized or based on advertisements or other recognizable imagery. Impressionist art is very detailed forms that consist of small patterns or strokes of colors.

Tate Modern museum in London has a large collection of abstract and pop art pieces by artists such as Andy Warhol, Jasper Johns, Roy Lichtenstein, and Marcel Duchamp. The Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York City offers a wonderful collection of impressionist pieces by Monet and Van Gogh.

The first thing that you will need to do is find inspiration. This means doing some research on other artists and looking at their work. You should try to find an artist whose style is similar to yours and then create a list of things that they have done well.

You can also find inspiration by looking at things around you and trying to recreate them in your own style. If you are going to be an abstract artist, then this could mean using everyday objects as your subject matter instead of landscapes or people.

People are often dismayed when they look at an artist’s portfolio and see that many of the pieces look very different from one another, but that is exactly what you should be striving for as a beginner. You want your portfolio to show off your range, so don’t waste all your time on one or two pieces when there are so many styles out there that need exploring!
