The logo, with its simple and elegant design, is one of the most famous in the world. It was designed by Rob Janoff of Regis McKenna Advertising and based on a suggestion by Steve Jobs. It consists of a monogram made up of the company’s name in a custom font, accompanied by a colorful Apple logo.

The monogram, with slight variations, was used until 1993, when Apple began using a rainbow-colored version of the logo that had three colors: blue (green) apple, red apple and orange apple. These colors were chosen to represent the color of the original iMac, which is made out of translucent plastic. The current logo was designed in 1998 by Sir Jony Ive and his team at Apple’s advertising agency at the time, TBWA\Chiat\Day; it is a notable example of the company’s use of “design by committee”, which aims to create logos that are simple enough to translate well into different media while pleasing as many people as possible.
