Art is a broad term, encompassing a wide range of activities, tools and forms. Art can be defined as a form of expression, but the definition provided by Merriam Webster is rather vague: “a creative work endowed with aesthetic value, expressing ideas or emotions”

The purpose of art is to create something that didn’t exist before and share this creation with other people. The ways in which art can be shared include various forms of communication such as writing and speaking, performance, music, dance, painting and sculpture. All these forms of communication are available online making the internet a new platform for creating art.

This blog will provide you with news about this new form of art and artists who are creating art online. The focus is primarily on contemporary art and artists in the online community.*

Art Online was created by two artists, Katerina Gregos and Stephanie Syjuco, who were working on the web art projects. They had noticed that there was a lack of contemporary art in the online space and hence decided to create an online art blog.

The main goal of this blog is “to promote and feature new media art, discuss issues surrounding it and its future development, as well as to provide a platform for artists to exhibit their work”. This blog is a compilation of the latest trends in the world of art. It features video work, animation work, painting work, photography work etc. The blog also features interviews with different artists from all over the world which is a great way to get to know about their works and their thoughts.

Art Online offers a complete resource for artists as well as non-artists by providing them with valuable information about the latest trends in the world of digital art.

Art online is a global community of artists and art enthusiasts. We aim to highlight and promote works created within the online community and presented in an open source manner, with an emphasis on accessibility, honesty and integrity.

The blog aims to provide a platform to showcase new media art, now and in the future, while maintaining a focus on traditional art forms. It provides a space for debate on the importance of these art forms in today’s society, as well as providing a historical view of their progression.
