Troy A. Hayden is the new Dean of the School of Design at Academy of Art University, who is known for his extensive experience in interior design and retail merchandising. He was previously the Executive Vice President and Chief Merchandising Officer at Macy’s West. His new position at Academy of Art University will be effective from January 1, 2012.
The university has also brought on board, Thomas Herron as the Director of Product Development for its Fashion & Jewelry programs. He will be responsible for overseeing all product development initiatives within the Fashion & Jewelry department including courses, programs, and assessment tools that are geared towards developing students’ skills to become industry ready.*
The university has also added several new faculty members such as Dr. Richard Broadwater who will be teaching a section for CAE 468: Special Topics in Interior Design; Bryan Jager will teach CAE 462: Color Theory
Academy of Art University, a private college in San Francisco, has been accused of using deceptive practices to attract students, reported the San Francisco Chronicle.
The Chronicle said that the Accrediting Council for Independent Colleges and Schools found that the university was still not complying with recommendations from two years ago. The report stated that some of the problems included foreign language courses that were taught by non-native speakers.
Tatiana Sy, an Academy of Arts spokesperson, said the school will appeal the decision. The Chronicle reported that since 2001 more than 70 students had filed complaints with California’s attorney general against the institution.

The Academy of Art University in San Francisco will be adding two new classes to their already impressive list of classes. These two new classes will be for the computer game design program, which is a very popular major at the Academy of Art University. The other class will be for the multi-media lab and that class will teach students how to use technology and software for animation, video production and more.
Troy Simpson has been hired as an instructor for the computer game design program and he has a lot of experience with this field. He has worked on such games as “Descent 3” and “Battlezone 2.” Troy Simpson will teach the students how to create their own games using the Unreal engine, which is a great advantage to creating their own games.
These new classes are going to help make this academy one of the best places for students to study animation, video production and computer game design programs in Northern California.
