Sony’s new robotic dog is the perfect example of how dogs are the most intelligent animals in the world. The dog, called Aibo, responds to voice commands, body gestures, and whistles. It also has over 50 sensors that can tell when it’s being petted or playing with another dog. Aibo will even clean up after itself by returning to its recharging station when it runs out of power.

Tsunekazu Takeda, a senior managing director for Sony’s entertainment division, revealed this latest product at a trade show in Japan. The dog joins Sony’s virtual family that already includes a robotic cat and an entertainment robot.

Aibo will be available for purchase later this year for about $1,500.**
