What is moebius art?

Moebius art is a style of visual art created by MC Escher and other artists. It is named after the German mathematician August Ferdinand Möbius, who discovered a surface with only one side. The most famous moebius artworks are the impossible buildings often called “Relativity.” They seem to defy gravity and logic, as if they were real places you could walk through or live in. The term refers to the fact that these images are two-dimensional when examined from one direction, but from another direction they are three-dimensional.

MOEBIUS ART:

Moe is a Japanese word that means “to expand,” and bii is the Japanese word for “two.” The word moebius comes from the Latin word möebius (which has no meaning in Latin) which was used in mathematics to describe a particular shape called a Moebius strip. In the strip, you take a piece of paper, give it a half-twist, and tape the ends together. You can then turn the strip any way you like, but as far as you can tell there is only one surface. If you cut across any point on the strip, you will see that it has only one side.

Moebius art is created by giving an object a half twist, taping the ends together, and then making cuts across it. When those cuts are assembled back together to form a whole image or shape, they appear to be continuous lines in space. Each cut represents what is called an infinity symbol (∞), which represents something infinitely large or small.

The first use of moebius art was by M. C. Escher (1898-1972) in his woodcut print of 1941 called Circle Limit III where he twisted a ribbon 180 degrees around itself and then
