Marc was born in 1960, in Kansas City, Missouri. He went on to study art at Arizona State University, before moving on to San Francisco Art Institute where he earned his Bachelor’s Degree in Fine Arts. After graduating he moved back east, settling down in New York City where he has continued to live since 1984.*

He has received many grants, prizes and other distinctions over the course of his career, including two Canada Council for the Arts grants (1975 and 1987), two Quebec government grants (1979 and 1990), a bursary from the Conseil des arts et lettres du Québec (1979). He was also a finalist for the Gershon Iskowitz Prize (1985) and was awarded the Prix du Québec (1987). In 1992 he was awarded a grant from The Conseil des arts et des lettres du Québec.
In 2000 he was granted a residency at Carrara, Italy. In 2003 he won a prize at the Laval Triennial exhibition in Quebec
