So, I’ve decided to do some research and compile a list of books that are available on this particular topic.

Taschen Books

These two volumes are probably the most comprehensive collections on mid century modern art. Volume 1 includes information on Scandinavian design, Italian design, German Bauhaus artists and Russian Constructivism, while Volume 2 includes American architecture, furniture, graphic design and product design. Both volumes have an excellent selection of color illustrations.

The Art Book

This book is perfect for someone who is just getting interested in mid century modern art. This book introduces 25 of the most important artists in this genre with lots of color illustrations. The text is written by an art critic who clearly knows his stuff and can make almost any artist interesting to read about.

The World Atlas of 20th Century Design
