I’m a professional artist and I teach kids how to make art. I’m also the author of The Art Kit for Kids: a drawing, painting, and craft kit for kids aged 7-12. My posts on this blog are about art for children and teens along with some tools for making it.
I’m currently writing a book for adults about creativity and I’m an artist in residence at the Museum of Childhood in London, UK. I have worked in art education for over 20 years and have exhibited my paintings in galleries both here and abroad.
I’m currently working on a series of articles about various aspects of art training for children and teens such as creativity, drawing, painting, printmaking, sculpture, collage, digital imaging and design. Each article will be accompanied by a gallery of work by kids who took part in the workshops that led to these projects.

I have been creating art for years and I would like to show my passion to others. The best way is to inspire them. I want to share with other parents some of the ideas that are working for me and also some tools that can be used for making them. Hope you will find it useful.**
My name is Matilda, I live in Holland and I am a mom of three boys. Art makes a big part of my life, even though I don’t have much time left for it. We make art almost every day, and I am trying to give new ideas each time we do it. It’s not easy, but it’s a lot of fun!**
We have an active community on Facebook where we discuss art topics, share ideas, ask questions or provide information: https://www.facebook.com/artforkidsthroughtheages?fref=ts**

Art is a big word which can be used to define all kinds of things, but in this blog I focus on creating art. I discuss the most common mistakes and ways to overcome them. I share some inspirational art pieces, ideas and techniques for creating them. Happy reading!
Art is an important part of human culture. It has been developed many different ways in different countries, countries that are different from each other. Art is a way for expressing emotions and thoughts visually.
I believe that every person has inside himself/herself an artistic talent that needs to be cultivated. Art helps us express our inner selves and become more aware of ourselves and the world around us. It teaches us the way we think and feel about the things around us. It teaches us how to observe details in life.
Art helps you make sense of the world and learn how to see what is beautiful in it. It makes you understand your own feelings better by helping you recognize them through expression in art forms such as painting, drawing or sculpting.
Art helps you develop patience, discipline and concentration which are very helpful in everyday life as well as schoolwork! It also helps you develop your imagination, sense of space and proportion which is essential for better understanding math (if you study it).
Why a blog?
It’s the best way I know to keep track of ideas and to share them. If you’re an artist who wants to suggest an idea or just to comment, please do — either in the comments or by e-mailing me directly.
