The Power of Art: A Collaborative Exhibition at the Mispillion Art League

The Mispillion Art League will host a collaborative art exhibition featuring artwork created by inmates in the Delaware Department of Correction's Prison Arts Program.

The exhibit showcases the therapeutic benefits of art for inmates, highlighting its role in rehabilitation and reentry.

Art encourages introspection, providing a platform for inmates to reflect on their experiences and emotions.

The event aims to raise awareness about the Prison Arts Program and its benefits for inmates.

The exhibition will run from Tuesday, May 6th through Saturday, May 17th, with hours from Tuesday to Friday 10 – 5 and Saturday 9 – 4.

Inmates in the Prison Arts Program learn practical skills that support reentry and open pathways for career success upon their return to the community.

Art sales generate commissions for the inmate artists, with remaining proceeds reinvested in the Prison Arts Program.

The Mispillion Art League is supported by grants from the Delaware Division of the Arts and the National Endowment for the Arts.

The Prison Arts Program has expanded to a dozen incarcerated artists, with day-to-day instruction guided by skilled and experienced inmate artists.

The exhibition will be held at the Mispillion Art League gallery in Milford, DE, and visitors can learn more about the Prison Arts Program and the Mispillion Art League at their websites.
