Trying to make the most out of the space available to you can be a challenge when you don’t know where to start. That’s why we have put together these seven tips on how to create the illusion of space in any room.
If you want to give your room a bigger feel, you need to create the illusion of space. The first step is understanding why your room has a small feel in the first place. There are two primary reasons for this: wall color and furniture placement.
TIP 1: Choosing the wrong color on your walls can make your rooms feel small. Colors such as red or dark brown will make it appear smaller than a lighter color. Choose a light or neutral color if you are looking to open up the space in your room.
Choose to paint your walls white, off-white, cream or some other light neutral color. You can also use light colors such as yellow, orange or blue sparingly in an accent wall to bring out a certain part of the room. Keep in mind that these colors will be more vibrant than those used on an accent wall, so use them carefully and sparingly if you use them at all.
TIP 2: Arranging furniture too closely together and too closely to the walls can make it appear as though there is no space between them and the walls and that there is no space between the furniture itself.
To create a sense of space between pieces of furniture, keep them about 18 inches from each other and from the walls,

The walls of your home are just like the skin of your body. Wherever there is a pore on your skin, you will most likely have a hair growing out of it. The same is true where ever you have a gap in your wall, there will be some sort of junk filling it up.
TIP 1: Remove Clutter**
Most people fill the gaps in their walls with pictures and other art work. They think this makes them look more intelligent or sophisticated. The truth is that it only makes the room look smaller and cluttered. Remove all unnecessary pictures and other miscellaneous junk from your walls and you will instantly create more space for yourself.
TIP 2: Use focal points**
One of the best ways to create space in any room is to use focal points. Focal points are things that stand out against their surrounding areas. Therefore, if you have a big piece of furniture covering up part of your wall then use that to make a focal point. For example, if you have a big cabinet set in front of one particular wall, then paint that wall an off-white color so that the cabinet sticks out when you look at it because
Creating space in a room can be achieved by using a few common sense tips, and these should be used to make the most of what space there is. However, it is also important to bear in mind that not every room is going to have as much space as you would want it to have.
In this article we will look at some of the ways you can use this space effectively, so that your room does not look like it is tightly packed with furniture.
Here are some great tips for creating more space in any room of the house.
Wall art is a great way to add character and style in any room of the house, especially when you are short on space. But finding the perfect wall decor can be tricky. The color of your wall art should be the same color as your walls to create continuity and pull a space together.
TIP 1- Check out colors used in art galleries and museums. They have a knack for creating cohesive, sophisticated spaces that have a presence about them. One of my favorite ways of doing this is to find anonymous pieces that aren’t attached to one artist or movement. This will help create cohesion among all sizes, shapes, colors and styles of your artwork.
TIP 2- Make sure the scale of what you want to hang is right for your space. Pictures that are too small or large can make small spaces feel tighter and larger spaces feel empty if they don’t fit well with the existing decor in your home. Measure the size of the area you want to fill and keep within 1-2 inches either way so you can really see how something will look before it’s hung up on your wall!
TIP 3- Use color strategically…it’s one of the best ways to give a room depth! Red is great at drawing attention, while blue is calming and
As you look around the room, you realize that you are in a very small space. You need to open up the room visually by creating more space. To do this, neutralize colors and reduce clutter as much as possible. If possible, remove all pictures from the walls to gain more space on the walls.
TIP 1: Remove all pictures from the walls and store them in a closet for now. The walls should be bare so that you can see how much space there really is in your room.
TIP 2: If you are using a sofa or love seat, position it against the wall instead of in the middle of the room. By positioning it against the wall, you create more space between yourself and the furniture when seated on it.
Also, try not to use end tables next to your sofa or chairs. Instead, use floor lamps or tall lamps that can help provide extra light and take up less space visually.
TIP 3: If you have a coffee table, remove it temporarily if possible and place books or magazines on top of it on one side of the room or stack them neatly on top of each other. This will also create an illusion of more space in your room.
TIP 4: Use floor lamps or tall lamps
How will you know that you have chosen the right piece? The best way is to get a large piece of paper and tape it to the wall. Once it is up, use a ruler to measure the width and length of the space from top to bottom and side to side. The dimensions will help you determine how much space you have available for artwork, as well as make sure that the artwork will fit in the space you select.
– The size of the art itself should be balanced with the size of the wall. If your piece is too small for your wall, then there will not be any breathing room around it, making your room feel smaller. However, if a piece is too large for your wall space, then it may overwhelm that area of your room and make it feel smaller. It is important to find a happy medium in between so that your art work doesn’t overtake your room.
– Artwork that incorporates color into its subject matter tends to have more depth and dimension than artwork with only black and white. For example, an abstract painting of an apple on a red background will look more dimensional than a picture of an apple on a white background because color adds depth. Choose artwork with colors that complement each other and enhance the overall feel of the room.”
