Elizabeth Will, a wife and mother of four, is a self-taught artist, writer and art educator who creates art for the sheer love of creating. The purpose of this blog is to provide an ongoing chronicle of Elizabeth’s artwork and writing, as well as the many things she learns from her own artistic journey.
Elizabeth Will, Artist and Art Educator: A blog profiling an artist and her artwork. Elizabeth Will is a graduate of the School of the Art Institute of Chicago with a BFA in Painting and Drawing. She has taught art to children for over 20 years in public, private, and charter schools.

My artwork explores concepts of time, space and illusion through color, line, pattern and form. I work in many mediums including painting, printmaking and digital media.
For my latest body of work, I’ve been exploring geometric shapes as the subject matter. My pieces are a combination of painting and drawing on wood panels that have been altered by cutting large shapes out of them. From there I layer patterns on top of the cut out shapes to create depth, texture, light and dark areas while keeping it all cohesive within a shape. The patterns are created digitally but printed on paper which is then layered onto the wood cut outs.
I am also working on some new pieces that are more mixed media where I am mixing paint with collage elements like acrylic paint drips along with mixed media materials like maps, vintage paper items along with

Elizabeth Will has been painting murals and doing commissioned work for over 20 years. She specializes in mural work, portraits, floral art and watercolor landscapes. Her work has received critical acclaim as well as awards in juried shows in California, Texas and New Mexico. She has clients across the USA, as well as abroad. One of her murals hangs permanently in the Brown University Business School in Providence, RI.
The atmosphere that has provided such rich opportunities for deep connection with the natural world is one of her most valuable resources as an artist. Her studio is located near a river that runs through a canyon which is filled with varied wildlife and abundant plant life.
Elizabeth Will is a visual artist and art educator with a passion for the animal kingdom. Her work is represented in private, public, and corporate collections around the world. She’s been teaching watercolor workshops for over twenty years. She lives in Seattle, Washington.
The Brooklyn-based artist’s exhibit at the Medical University of South Carolina (MUSC) will be unveiled on the second floor of the Horseshoe. It is just one of many exhibits Will has participated in since her art career began in 2010.
“I am very excited to be working with MUSC and the Artists from Abroad program,” said Elizabeth Will. “I have been closely following a few of the other artists through their blogs, and it looks like it is going to be a very interesting experience.”

I’ve been teaching art for the past 27 years, and I don’t think I’ve ever seen this technique before. This is something new and different, and it’s very exciting.
It’s just amazing how she negotiates with these materials to create a beautiful painting. Her use of color is really incredible. She’s an artist who doesn’t use a lot of paint but uses colored pencils instead. That gives her a certain lightness in her work, but it also gives her a luminosity, because the colors are so bright. Also, she has a wonderful sense of design, and she uses negative space so well. These paintings have just the right balance of positive and negative space to them. It’s very difficult to do that in any medium, especially with colored pencils, which are not very forgiving if you don’t get your composition just right.
