The theory is that there are two main elements to a great hair cut or hair color: Scissors and Palettes. The blog began as a way for the stylist to share some of the knowledge she has gained over 27 years in the business.

This blog is intended to help anyone who has ever wondered how to get the look they want, but feel they do not have enough information. There are so many choices out there with so many different names and variations. This blog will attempt to help you understand what all those names are, what they mean, and more importantly, what they can do for you!

Scissor skills & your Palette will greatly impact how your hair looks, feels and behaves. Understanding how to use these tools properly can make all the difference between an ok haircut and a great one!*

A good hair cut and a beautiful hair color are the result of the combination of two main elements: the haircut and the color.

Scissors and color are the two main elements that make a great haircut or a great color. A perfect haircut gives you a great shape, while a perfect color brings out your natural beauty. Both together can create a look that will make you shine.

Color is what makes your hair look shiny, bright and healthy. A good salon will have all the right colors to make your hair look beautiful. They should have other products as well for you to use at home to keep your hair looking good between visits to the salon.

TIP!When you are getting your hair colored, find out what products they use at the salon and ask them for advice on how to get similar results at home. If they don’t seem like they want to help, find another salon. You should be their top priority so they should be willing to help with whatever you need!

Scissors are used by stylists to cut your hair in such a way that it looks beautiful after it grows out again. Scissors can give you layers without weighing your hair down or give you a new style without needing lots of different cuts. The stylist’s experience will

* Scissors are used to cut the hair. They can be anything from a pair of household scissors to a $200 pair of hair cutting scissors.* A great deal of care and precision goes into using the correct scissor for the correct job.

A good hairdresser is always going to use different scissors for different jobs. There are about 15 different kinds of scissors for cutting, that are usually placed in 3 categories:

1. General purpose scissors

2. Cutting shears

3. Pointed shears

4. Texturizing shears

5. Setting shears

6. Thinning Shears

7. Liner Shears

8. Razor Shears

9. Wavy Shears

10. Curl Shears or Crimping Shears (these two types are used mainly on fine hair)**A good hairdresser will always have each type of scissor readily available at their work station/table and will know exactly when to use which one of them to achieve the best possible results.”*Palette: The Palettes we use are made with high quality hair color products by L’Oreal Paris, Goldwell, Wella, Schwarzkopf, Clairol and other popular brands.”*

The tools in this set are simply the ones that I find most useful for cutting hair and doing hair color. There will be many others that you might find useful, and this is not intended to be an exhaustive list of all of them.

The first tool that I am going to talk about is scissor. The number 1 thing to look for in a pair of scissors is the material they are made out of. You want a scissor that has stainless steel blades.

Another important thing to look at is the handle. You want a handle that fits comfortably in your hand so that you can have control over it and get a clean even cut every time you use it.

There are many different kinds of scissors on the market today, but I only use two different kinds: one for fine work and one for thicker hair. The smaller, finer scissor I use for doing things like bangs or to make small “tweaks” when someone’s hair needs a little bit of touching up or detail work; those jobs require precision which is why I prefer using this type of scissor for them.

The other kind is my shears for cutting thicker hair because it allows me to make larger cuts with less effort than with my finer pair.

The difference between a good haircut and a great cut is the attention to detail. **Scissors – **I firmly believe that a good hair stylist should use the best tools for the job. I recommend these mid-sized scissors from Japan, but not everyone is into Japanese made products. If you want to stick with an American brand I would go with Wahl, Oster or Andis. These are all good quality products, but my heart is with the professionals in Japan. They have been crafting the finest scissors for centuries. If you want to take your haircare seriously and make sure you get a good hair stylist, these are the scissors to look for.

If you have fine hair, I recommend using a smaller pair of scissors as they will keep your hair out of the way so your stylist can see what they are doing better and give you a better cut. If you have more coarse hair like myself, I recommend using bigger scissors as they will be easier to comb through your hair giving you a cleaner cut.

The most important thing about using scissors is finding out what type of haircut works best with them. For example: if you use thinning shears on curly hair, they usually leave behind little loops that are hard to comb through, so

For the last year or so, I’ve been doing some research on how to find the right colorist, stylist and/or salon. I’ve learned a lot and am excited to share what I’ve learned with you.

I’ll start with the basics: Every person’s hair is comprised of different colors. The color of your hair may vary from the root, to a few inches down the shaft, to the tip of your head (depending on how quickly your hair grows).

TIP: If you are looking for a new stylist or colorist, ask them to send you a picture of their work. Make sure they have photos of brunettes, blondes and redheads as well as different shades of each.
